CFCI Lego Competition

APA and Create engineers teamed up with BPTW to compete for the Cambridge Forum for the Construction Industry Lego Championships in Cambridge.

The theme was ‘a novel idea from Cambridge’.

With very little planning we set to building one of the first graphic interface computers designed by A.S. Douglas who was passing his PhD degree at the University of Cambridge. His pre-stored programme allowed a person to play noughts and crosses. His EDSAC computer had a mercury delay line screen with an old fashioned telephone dial to dial in the moves.

We had a great time and the creative teamwork was typical of our collective open minded approach to collaboration. As for our success on the night, well let’s just say the competition was stiff.

All topped of with University brewed beer and a curry.
